Why Barack Obama's win is good for the Yankees (and not the Mets)

Regardless of your political affiliation, if you're a Yankees fan, you can take some comfort in Barack Obama's victory during Tuesday night's presidential election.
The Yankees have won 20 of their 27 championships under a Democrat president, including each of the last nine. They haven't won when a Republican has occupied the White House since Dwight Eisenhower in 1958. After winning their first four titles with a Republican president (Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover), the Yankees won 20 of their next 23 with a Democrat in office.
Meanwhile, Mets fans might be doomed to four more years of losing, regardless of how Matt Harvey progresses.
Each of the Mets' championships came with a Republican president: 1969 (Richard Nixon) and 1986 (Ronald Reagan).
