Yankees to honor Mariano Rivera

Yankees fans are used to seeing Mariano Rivera at the end of games. But on Sept. 22, the all-time saves leader, who has announced he¹ll retire at the end of the season, will be honored during a pregame ceremony at Yankee Stadium.
Rivera, 43, has donned the pinstripes for the Yankees his entire 19-year career. He's made 13 All-Star teams, won five AL Rolaids Relief Awards and five World Series championships.
News of his upcoming retirement prompted teams from around the major leagues to present him with parting gifts. In Minnesota, Rivera received a rocking chair made of baseball bats. In Cleveland, he received a gold record of "Enter Sandman," the Metallica song that plays whenever he enters a game. In Anaheim, he received a painted portrait from artist Stephen Holland. At Fenway Park of all places, rival Red Sox fans stood and cheered as Rivera entered the game.
