A recap of the Yankees-Rangers season series
The Yankees and Rangers enjoyed home-field advantages against each other this season. The Yankees swept a three-game series at Yankee Stadium in April. The Rangers did the same in Arlington in September. The teams split a series in Texas in August. Overall, the season series was a 4-4 deadlock.
At Yankee Stadium
April 16: Yankees 5, Rangers 1: CC Sabathia pitched a rain-shortened six-inning complete game.
April 17: Yankees 7, Rangers 3: Alex Rodriguez hit his first homer of 2010 and A.J. Burnett pitched seven shutout innings.
April 18: Yankees 5, Rangers 2: Mark Teixeira hit his first homer of 2010 and Andy Pettitte went eight innings.
At Rangers Ballpark
Aug. 10: Rangers 4, Yankees 3 (10): David Murphy's one-out, bases-loaded single off Mariano Rivera gave Texas the victory.
Aug. 11: Yankees 7, Rangers 6: The Yankees trailed 6-1 to Cliff Lee after five innings but rallied as Marcus Thames drove in the go-ahead run in the ninth.
Sept. 10: Rangers 6, Yankees 5 (13): Nelson Cruz tied the game with a homer off Joba Chamberlain in the eighth and won it with a homer off Chad Gaudin in the 13th, both times on the first pitch.
Sept. 11: Rangers 7, Yankees 6: Rivera hit Jeff Francoeur with a pitch to force in the winning run as the Rangers scored two in the bottom of the ninth.
Sept. 12: Rangers 4, Yankees 1: Texas completed the sweep behind Lee, who allowed one run in eight innings.
