Joe Girardi described Andrew Brackman’s left groin injury as “minor” on Friday and the 6-10 righthander said pretty much the same Saturday morning.

“I really don’t feel it today at all so that’s good," Brackman said. "Hopefully those three days of rest got rid of it and we’ll get back to work.”

Brackman said he first felt the "discomfort" in his hip area last month when he came to Tampa early to begin working out and throwing for pitching coach Larry Rothschild at the minor league complex.

"It came on gradual," Brackman said.

The pitcher said team doctors had him do various strength and agility tests and found no major problems.

"They said I’m good to go, I’m fine," Brackman said. "I’d pitch with something like this during the season. Just precautionary."

He added: "I didn’t have an MRI or anything so obviously it’s not that big of a deal.”
