Amping up the electricity about Manny Banuelos' emergency start here tonight in Fort Myers, Joe Girardi acknowledged that the talk throughout camp has been that the lefty flamethrower would defnitely start the season in the minors. But  late this afternoon here in the Sox park, the manager said, "I don’t ever say anything is 100 percent. I don’t. Sometimes your needs change in a hurry. If he’s in big league camp, show us what he can do. There’s a reason for that."

But Brian Cashman spoke just a few minutes ago and said that the plan is for Banuelos--regardless of how he does against Boston's A lineup on ESPN tonight--to go to the minor leagues and pitch in a rotation. "He's not making this team," the GM said, adding that Banuelos is scheduled to go to Double A ball.
