SARASOTA, Fla. -- Brian Cashman slammed the door on acquiring Oliver Perez before slightly cracking it open.
But still, not all that much.
"None," the Yankees general manager said Tuesday after being asked if it was safe to say he had no interest in the lefthander, who was released Monday.
"Not at this time," he added. "Based on what we've seen thus far, it's not something that would be a fit. But I was asked above me to look into it, just to be certain, and we always look at everything. But it's not something that right now makes much sense for us based on everything we've seen."
After a pause, Cashman continued: "But like all these players, it doesn't mean he can't find his way back over time."
