Cliff Lee: Andy best postseason pitcher ever
So much of the anticipation about Game 3 Monday night has focused on Cliff Lee, it seems that maybe Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte is getting overlooked. One guy definitely has not overlooked Pettitte: Cliff Lee.
"I met him for the first time at the All-Star Game this year," Lee said at Yankee Stadium this afternoon. "He's obviously a really good person and his credentials speak for themselves. He's pitched for a long time at the highest level. He's got a ton of experience. You know, in my opinion, he's probably the best postseason pitcher of all time, just by the number of wins and the number of rings he's got.
"He definitely knows what he's doing with the ball. There's no doubt about it. He's been doing it for a long time and got tons of experience and seen a lot.
"I don't have to hit off him so I'm not too worried about that side of it. But I do know he knows what he's doing with the ball. He's geared for these kind of games for sure. I don't know how many wins he's got in the postseason, 19? That says a lot right there. He's a good pitcher and he's got a ton of respect from me just as far as being a competitor and a guy who has had a very long career and been successful the majority of that career. It's impressive what he's done."
