The Yankees aren’t done adding to their bullpen.
After signing Zach Britton and Adam Ottavino this offseason, they signed righthander Danny Farquhar to a minor-league deal on Monday with an invitation to big-league camp.
Farquhar is best known for having fought his way back to health after suffering a life-threatening brain hemorrhage, the result of a ruptured aneurysm, during a relief outing for the White Sox last April 20 against the Astros. Farquhar, who had surgery April 21 and was discharged from the hospital May 7, did not pitch the rest of the season but did throw out a ceremonial first pitch June 1 before a game against the Brewers.
It will be a second stint in the Yankees’ organization for Farquhar, 31, whom the club claimed off waivers in 2012 and assigned to Double-A Trenton but shipped to the Mariners about a month later as part of a package for Ichiro Suzuki.
Farquhar, who has a career 3.93 ERA in seven big-league seasons, has pitched for the Blue Jays, Mariners, Rays and White Sox in the majors.
