The Yankees accidentally distributed a file containing information on about 17,000 season-ticket accounts for non-premium seats. The information breach -- which included names, addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers and e-mail addresses provided to the Yankees -- occurred Monday evening when an employee mistakenly attached an internal Yankees spreadsheet that listed certain ticket holder information.

The team said no financial information or government identification numbers, such as Social Security numbers or birthdays, were included in the document.

"A mistake was made and we're being as transparent as we possibly can," a Yankees spokesperson said. "And we've already taken steps to ensure that cannot and will not happen again."

The team said it already has sent out letters to ticket holders, even those who were not affected. The letter also can be viewed on the Yankees' website.
