Derek Jeter left today’s game after being hit in the hand by Baltimore Orioles’ starter Jake Arrieta in the third inning.
He was examined by team staff and took first base and played the next half inning in the field. Francisco Cervelli pinch-hit for him in the bottom of the fourth.
Edguardo Nunez began the day at second base with Robinson Cano getting the DH duties. After Jeter’s exit, Nunez moved to shortstop and Cervelli took over at second base.
