BOSTON -- Derek Jeter is done talking about his new batting stance. "I ain't talking about it anymore," he said Saturday after the Yankees' 9-4 win over the Red Sox. "People made so much about it. I'm good."

Usually tight-lipped, Jeter had been surprisingly open and honest in recent weeks while talking about his struggles trying to get used to his new stride-less swing. But with a batting average of .233 (7-for-30) after eight games, Jeter seems to have grown tired of going through the process of analyzing the progress of his new swing and his at-bats publicly.

"I'm not doing anything different, really," he said. "I've talked about it enough, to be quite honest with you. I'm not thinking about it. I'm just hitting."

Hitting coach Kevin Long recently told Newsday that Jeter approached him last week to say he was sick of thinking about his new stance during at-bats.

According to Long, Jeter decided during that conversation that he would force himself to not think about the intricacies and timing of his new swing during the game and instead would focus on finding fastballs to hit.

Jeter, who went 1-for-4 Saturday, worked with Long in spring training to eliminate the stride toward the plate that Long believes made him vulnerable against inside pitches last year.

"You guys keep asking about it," Jeter said of his new stance. "I'm striding the same. How 'bout that? I don't know what else to tell you about it."
