Torre mentioned for MLB job

Former Yankee manager Joe Torre could  be in line to become executive vice president for Major League Baseball, according to several reports.
 

The job,  which was held by Sandy Alderson before he left to become general manager of the Mets, has been discussed between Torre and commissioner Bud Selig, the reports said. 

Torre, 70, spent the last three seasons managing the Dodgers. Before that, he guided the Yankees for 12 years.
 

Torre has been offered broadcasting jobs and has the option of staying with the Dodgers in an unspecified front office capacity.
