Amed Rosario might just be due for more at-bats against righthanders.

The veteran utility man, re-signed by the Yankees this offseason because of his career as a lefty-killer, got a rare start Tuesday night with a righthander on the mound. He was at third base in place of a slumping Ryan McMahon.

Rosario hit two home runs, including a go-ahead three-run shot in the eighth inning, to rally the Yankees to a 5-3 victory over the A’s on an arctic night at the Stadium with wind-chill temperatures dipping into the mid-20s.

Rosario homered to left in the eighth against former Yankee Mark Leiter Jr. (0-1) for his third multihomer game and first since August 2021 for Cleveland.

Aaron Boone, who before the game said he wanted to get Rosario more at-bats with the Yankees soon to face “a good bit of lefties,” would not commit to giving him more reps against righties.

“Not necessarily,” Boone said. “There’s certain matchups I like [him] in. We’ve got a number of lefties coming up. [But] competition’s always a good thing.”

The Yankees (8-2) trailed 3-1 entering the eighth before erupting against Leiter.

Cody Bellinger, Ben Rice and Giancarlo Stanton started the inning with consecutive singles, the latter of those making it 3-2. Rosario, who homered in the second off righthander Aaron Civale, crushed an 0-and-1 splitter 414 feet down the leftfield line for a 5-3 lead.

David Bednar struck out one in a perfect ninth for his fifth save.

The Yankees, who walked 30 times in their series victory over the Marlins, faced a pitching staff that had issued the second-most walks (58) in the big leagues.

The Yankees walked four times against Civale.

Yankees righty Cam Schlittler allowed three runs, all in the third inning, five hits and no walks. He struck out seven.
