Yanks best chance is wear him down
if you can't beat him, keep him out there so long that he wears out. That looks like the Yankees' best optioni at this point against Cliff Lee.
He has thrown 97 pitches through six innings, which is a lot. He doesn't look tired, and you have to assume the Rangers will let him go as long as they possibly can. Heck, if they lose this game, they probably never will have him pitch another game for them, ever. If his arm is weary, then it's the Yankees' problem next year, right?
For this year's Yankees, though, the best hope is to keep fouling off pitches, work the count (something they didn't think they would do because he pounds the strike zone so much) and hope that Ron Washington goes to the bullpen eventually.
