Gerald Green signs with Nets

The Nets signed NBA D-Leaguer Gerald Green to a 10-day contract today, according to the Nets Public Relations Department.
Green last appeared in the NBA with the Mavericks during the 2008-09 season. In four years in the league, Green played for four teams -- the Mavs, Celtics, Wolves and Rockets -- averaging 7.5 points on 42 percent shooting for his career.
The high-flying forward is remembered most for his performances in a pair of dunk contests, beating Nate Robinson, Dwight Howard and Tyrus Thomas for the title in 2007, then finishing second to Howard in 2008 despite his famous "birthday cake" dunk.
On Saturday, Green scored 28 points to earn MVP of the D-League All-Star Game. In 22 games for the Los Angeles D-Fenders, he's averaging 19.1 points and 4.6 rebounds, while shooting 45.8 percent from three.
