Hempstead native Tu Holloway Sunday announced his decision to withdraw from the NBA draft to return to Xavier for his senior season. Players who entered the draft but did not retain an agent had until midnight last night to decide without losing their college eligibility.

Holloway's play at a predraft workout Saturday at the Nets' practice complex won praise from some NBA talent experts, but he projected as a second-round pick at best.

Holloway told Newsday some teams said they expected him to be drafted, but he worried about the possibility of an NBA lockout. "It was a logical decision due to the lockout," Holloway said. "You see guys go in the second round or go undrafted, and they still have a chance to make the team through summer league and training camp. But this year is going to be a lot different."--
