Johnson leads Hawks over top-seed Bulls
Joe Johnson scored 34 points as the Atlanta Hawks beat the top-seeded Bulls, 103-95, Monday night in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series in Chicago.
The Bulls also got a major scare when Derrick Rose came up limping at the end of the game. He stepped on Jamal Crawford's foot, turned his left ankle and had to be helped off. "I should be OK," Rose said.
"It's tough when your best player is limping off the court with an injury that you know he's had before," Joakim Noah said. "It's tough, but right now, we have a game on Wednesday in less than 48 hours."
Atlanta's 15-2 run that bridged the third and fourth quarters turned a 69-65 deficit into an 80-71 lead. Johnson hit three three-pointers and had 11 points in that stretch.
Rose scored 24 points, shooting 11-for-27 from the field. Luol Deng scored 21 points for Chicago and Carlos Boozer had 14 points and eight rebounds. Crawford had 22 points for Atlanta.-- AP
