There was plenty of uncertainty regarding Carmelo Anthony and his status for Thursday’s game against the Heat after he suffered a deep cut in his left middle finger that required five stitches to close.

Mike Woodson made it sound as if Anthony would surely be in the lineup for the game between the two best teams in the East.

“He’s going to play,” Woodson said. “He’ll be ready to play. He’s a tough kid.”

There is no denying Anthony wants to play against LeBron James and the Heat. But not everyone was as confident as Woodson. Jason Kidd said he didn't know if Anthony would play. Anthony himself said the same.

“Right now it’s numb so I don’t know with the feeling and all that stuff,” Anthony said in the Charlotte locker room.

“I want to play. I want to play against Miami. But at the end of the day I have to do what’s right for my finger. The deep cut that it is. We’ll see. I’ll talk to the doctors. If I can’t play then I’ll see them two more times.”

We’ll know more around 6:30 p.m.
