Carmelo Anthony thinks keeping the Knicks intact is the key to winning more

Carmelo Anthony spoke at an event to promote Jeep's partnership with USA Basketball at Flatiron Plaza yesterday.
Here’s our story from that – with great help from my colleague Chris Mascaro - on Nuggets coach George Karl saying Melo needs to be more committed to things other than offense, Mike Woodson saying Anthony is committed and Anthony not knowing what to say.
Here’s some more Anthony, who seemed to stress he wanted everyone back from last year’s team (which isn’t possible) and the importance of building consistency. That, he said, is going to be what it will take for the next to stop being a first-round out.
“We got to build some consistency up here in New York,” Anthony said. “Over the past 10 years there hasn't been no consistency. It's one team in, one team out, one team in, one team out. You can't win like that. You can't win with a new basketball team every year. We want to build some consistency around here. The guys that we have we want to keep them and build on that."
And bringing back Woodson as coach speaks to that, Anthony said.
“I think for us to sign him back like that, that goes to show we're starting some type of consistency and we want to have some longevity here in New York and we want to have something here for people to look forward to."
Anthony also talked about working with his ex-coach Mike D’Antoni during the Olympics.
“It's going to be good just to reunite with him,” Anthony said. “When he left, there wasn't no bad blood between me and him. So I'm actually excited about going over there and trying to win a gold medal with him again. We won one in '08 and he was a big part of that, and he's going to be there again."
