Knicks’ Joakim Noah speaks out on gun control after Las Vegas shooting

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Joakim Noah, a noted gun control advocate, shared his thoughts in the wake of the Las Vegas mass shooting.
Noah said it’s important to continue to speak out, but the Knicks center wonders when all of these acts of violence will lead to stricter gun control laws in our country.
“One hundred percent,” Noah said Monday. “When you start talking about gun violence, you’re just a liberal idiot. It is an issue. There’s nothing wrong with being critical about your country. Especially when you love your country, this country’s done so much for me.
“I love this country a lot but there’s nothing wrong with being aware and understanding that there’s definitely some issues.”
His “Noah’s Arc Foundation” promotes unity and peace with a hope of ending gun violence. Two years ago, when he was a member of the Chicago Bulls, Noah produced an anti-violence video entitled “You’re Not Alone.” It featured his former teammates Derrick Rose, Taj Gibson, among others who had friends who were shot and killed.
“It’s very sad and condolences to everybody who is affected,” Noah said about the Las Vegas shooting. “It’s a tragedy. Just the wrong people with their hands on automatic weapons.”
