Price hike for Knicks, Rangers tickets

The price of Knicks season tickets will rise by an average of 4.9 percent for 2012-13 and Rangers by an average of 9.5 percent, the teams announced Monday.
The increases primarily will affect seats in the upper bowl, which will be the focus this coming offseason of the second phase of Madison Square Garden's three-year renovation.
Among the changes in the upper seating areas will be more amenities and new sightlines created by increasing the incline of the upper bowl by 17 degrees.
Two Rangers season-ticket holders who contacted Newsday said these were their increases: A seat in Section 409 that cost $1,600 this season will be $2,650; a seat in Section 410 will be $1,927, an increase of $328, or $8 per game.
The sections will be re-numbered and have different price structures next season.
Last offseason, the Garden announced average season-ticket price increases of 49 percent for the Knicks and 23 percent for the Rangers.
The Dolan family owns controlling interests in the Knicks, Rangers, MSG and Cablevision. Cablevision owns Newsday.
