Tina Charles of the Liberty was named the WNBA's Eastern Conference player of the month on Tuesday.

Charles averaged 19.9 points and 9.5 rebounds in July. Charles was second in scoring and first in rebounding in the Eastern Conference during the month.

The Liberty went 6-2 in July, including 4-2 on the road. The Liberty are 13-6, 1.5 games ahead of the Washington Mystics and Chicago Sky. Charles and the Liberty play at Chicago on Friday night.

Charles topped the Liberty in scoring in seven of eight games in July. She scored 14 or more points in all eight games, including one 30-point game and three games of 20 or more points. Charles had four games with double-digit rebounds in July, including a season-high 14 rebounds in two games.

Maya Moore of the Minnesota Lynx was named the Western Conference players of the month.
