Nets obtain Okur after losing Lopez

The Nets obtained center Mehmet Okur from the Jazz Thursday night after learning they will be without center Brook Lopez for a couple of months. He'll have surgery Friday to repair a stress fracture in his right foot.
The 6-11 Okur has averaged 13.7 points and 7.1 rebounds in 617 games with Detroit and Utah. "Mehmet will give us added scoring and size," Nets general manager Billy King said in a statement. "His ability to shoot the three will help space the floor.''
The Nets gave up a second-round draft pick for Okur, who is in his 10th year.
Lopez suffered the stress fracture in the preseason finale against the Knicks on Wednesday. He averaged 20.4 points and 6.0 rebounds last season for the Nets (24-58).-- AP
