Magic COO: It's up to Dwight to decide

Rob Hennigan's top priority at the moment is to look for a new coach, but the Orlando Magic's new GM also has another hefty task that's staring him squarely in the face.

Dwight Howard reportedly wants out of Orlando, and prefers to be shipped here to Brooklyn so he can team with Deron Williams and start something new with the Nets. Hennigan said yesterday that he plans on chatting with Howard at some point to start sorting through everything.

"Personally I look forward to sitting down with Dwight and sharing with him the vision and the direction we're going to go," Hennigan told reporters at his introductory press conference in Orlando, "and I look forward to listening to what his thought process is and where his head's at. At the end of the day, we'll take it from there."

Alex Martins, the Magic's chief operating officer, put the onus on Howard once more, explaining that Howard has to figure out what he wants to do.

"We clearly would rather Dwight be with us long term," Martins said. "Ultimately, you've heard me say the decision's up to Dwight. Dwight's got to decide whether he wants to be here or not. And ultimately, we will collectively make a decision that's in the best interests of our organization."
