Price out 4-6 months
Indiana Pacers guard A.J. Price suffered a fractured left patella and will miss four to six months to recover from surgery, the team announced Monday.
Price, from Amityville, injured the knee while playing in the Escalade High School Classic and Celebrity Basketball Game on Saturday night at Half Hollow Hills East High School.
The injury may have cost him an opportunity because the Pacers are thin at point guard and his promising play late in the season had the Pacers hopeful he could contribute in the near future. Of greater concern is that, as a second-round pick, Price's contract is not guaranteed for next season. So if the Pacers wish to move on, they can waive him to open a roster spot.
Curry, lender near fix
Lawyers for Knicks center Eddy Curry and Las Vegas-based lender Allstar Capital Inc. said they were headed toward a settlement that would make moot a judge's order last week that Curry pay back a $570,000 personal loan at $75,000 per month. They wouldn't disclose terms.
On Friday, a Manhattan court ordered Curry to pay $75,000 a month to Allstar Capital to resolve a debt that swelled to $1.2 million with interest. The court also issued an order letting Allstar seize three of Curry's cars.
Curry took out the personal loan in February 2008, promising to pay it back in five months at a nearly 85 percent annual interest rate - legal in Nevada, according to Allstar lawyer Donald N. David.
