Nets play final game at Island Garden
The Nets played their final game at Island Garden in West Hempstead, their home since 1969, losing to the Virginia Squires, 126-117 and falling to 27-30. They played their first 26 home games of the season at that arena before moving to Nassau Coliseum, which was still partially under construction. The Nets played one road game the following day - losing to the Kentucky Colonels - before opening the Coliseum on Feb. 11.
