The buildup for the rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Marcos Maidana has begun and neither camp is wasting time taking shots at the other. The opening episode of Showtime's All Access: Mayweather vs. Maidana II was all about respect. Floyd demands it and Maidana won't give it.  It makes for good television and, on September 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, it should make for a compelling rematch.

Here's more about the opening episode:

Best spoken line, Floyd Mayweather Jr: "I don't have to talk about how good I am. To be champion 17 years, that speaks for itself." Which of course, was followed by Mayweather talking about how great he is: "They think they're good. I know I'm great."

Best spoken line, Marcos Maidana: "I admire him for what he is. He's one of boxing's greats. But respect? Not at all."

Training days: 45 straight minutes on the heavybag from Mayweather.

Scenic view: Time lapse of the clouds and ocean in Oxnard.

Best supporting cast: Ronald Diggs, an employee for Mayweather Promotions. The joke was on him inside Mayweather's mansion, but he took it very well while the cameras were rolling.

Best written line: This opening essay by Mark Kriegel: The notion of Mayweather's invincibility? Marcos Maidana gave it little thought and even less respect. Mayweather endured the rough stuff to win something else, the approbation of his toughest critics. Now after 17 years without a loss, Floyd Mayweather feels a singular need - to avenge a victory. Undefeated isn't enough, unquestioned is what he seeks. This isn't a rematch, it's a resolution.

* The war of words between Mayweather and Maidana's trainer Robert Garcia is always fun. The pick in this corner is that Mayweather beats Garcia in a street fight. But Garcia stretches Floyd's muscle-bound bodyguards. The bodyguards are menacing and probably quite tough. But all those muscles generally don't help when you get hit on the chin.

*The presence of bodyguards around Mayweather always begs the question - Floyd is undoubtedly one of the premiere fighters on the planet, why so many bodyguards?

* Nice promotional work by Team Maidana to mockingly present Mayweather with a variety of boxing gloves on the press tour, cashing in on the glove controversy from last fight.

* Both fighters had great moments with their kids. Floyd going on the roller coaster or tucking his kids in on a private jet. And Maidana taking his son on a helicopter ride.

* How important a role does nutrition really play? Mayweather debunks this all the time. He interrupted his yoga regiment to eat a pair of huge burgers and an order of fries from a fast food joint.
