Andre Ward speaks at press conference

Andre Ward and Allan Green didn't waste anytime exchanging verbal barbs at a recent press conference to promote their Super Six World Boxing Classic bout on June 19 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA.

Ward (20-0, 13 KOs) won the WBA super middleweight title with an 11th-round TKO of Mikkel Kessler last November. Green (29-1, 20 KOs), who replaced Jermain Taylor in the super six, scored a unanimous decision win over Tarvis Simms last September.

Green was clearly not impressed with Ward's skills or his win over Kessler.

“Andre Ward is a good fighter; a good young fighter.  Very skilled, very talented and I do respect his skills," Green said. "But against a fighter like myself, he is going to have to bring a lot more to the table than he did against Mikkel Kessler."

Ward responded in kind.

As usual, I have another opponent talking loud and minimizing what I have done, and that’s ok," said Ward. "At some point in time, the world is going to have to give us our just due, but I don’t look for it right now."
