Surgery for Foreman
Former super-middleweight champion Yuri Foreman will need surgery after tearing the meniscus and stretching ligaments in his right knee during his fight against Miguel Cotto Saturday night at Yankee Stadium.
Foreman visited with Dr. Gerard Varlotta Monday in New York and was told he needs surgery. Foreman isn't sure when it will be scheduled or how long he'll be out.
The aspiring rabbi hurt his knee when he slipped to the canvas in the seventh round. He elected to continue even after his corner threw in the towel and finally was stopped in the ninth round. By then, Foreman could barely move around the ring.

Ravens to cancel camp
The Baltimore Ravens have been ordered by the NFL to cancel their final offseason training camp because of a violation of workout rules. According to the NFL, the Ravens "violated the rules concerning the intensity and tempo of drills conducted on the club's organized team activity days." The league also cited the Ravens for "the length of time spent by players at the team facility" on those days.

SBU's Waldeck drafted
Stony Brook's Steven Waldeck (Levittown) became the university's first-ever Major League Lacrosse draft selection when the Toronto Nationals chose him with the 17th overall pick Sunday evening. Toronto, which took Waldeck with its third pick, also selected C.W. Post's Mike Cama and Dowling's Kyle Rubisch.
"It was really amazing last night when Toronto called my name," said Waldeck, who was an honorable mention All-American as a senior and was named to the 2010 Tewaaraton Award watch list. "I couldn't be more excited to start playing and show lacrosse fans what Stony Brook is all about."
