Golden Boy adds Sadam Ali to east coast stable

At least that’s the way it seems things are going these days. The promotional giant announced Sunday the signing of Brooklyn undefeated welterweight Sadam Ali to an exclusive deal.

Until now, Ali (16-0, 10 KOs), who scored a knockout over Jermaine White in his last bout on October 27, had been promoting himself. He now joins the sport’s biggest promotional company, which likely guarantees the Brooklyn resident will fight many more times on the big stage in his backyard.

"This is the biggest moment of my professional boxing career, but not the last big moment," said Ali. "Golden Boy Promotions is the top promoter in the game today and I waited for this day for a long time. Now the next step is fighting the best and winning a world title."

Ali is just one of several east coast fighters who have signed with the Los Angeles based company. Danny Garcia (Philadelphia), Bernard Hopkins (Philadelphia), Daniel Jacobs (Brooklyn), Paulie Malignaggi (Brooklyn) and Seth Mitchell (Maryland) are also part of the Golden Boy east coast group of fighters.

"We've watched Sadam develop over the years and he's without a doubt a young man with the potential to win several world titles," said Oscar De La Hoya, President of Golden Boy Promotions. "He brings excitement to the ring and has a huge fan following. We're confident that he has the tools to become a star on both the local level fighting in his hometown of Brooklyn at Barclays Center as well as around the world."

Ali's next opponent will be announced at a later date, Golden Boy representatives said.
