WBO featherweight championship fight between Juan Manuel Lopez and Rafael Marquez has been moved to Saturday, November 6 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, it was announced today.
Originally scheduled for September 18, the fight had to be rescheduled after Marquez injured his right thumb two weeks ago.
"Fortunately, my thumb injury did not prevent me from continuing my conditioning, including running daily," Marquez said. "I am extremely grateful that my fight with Juan Manuel Lopez was rescheduled so quickly. On November 6, JuanM and I have a date with destiny. I can't wait."
Both fighters are well-known commodities. Lopez is 29-0 (26 KOs) in five years as a professional. Marquez (39-5, 35 KOs) is best known for his four-bout saga against Israel Vazquez.
"I'm looking forward to showing my skills against a great champion like Rafael Marquez, one of the all-time greats and future Hall of Famer," Lopez said. "It will be the biggest fight of my career."
The fight will be broadcast on Showtime beginning at 9 p.m.
