Kermit Cintron: Bring on Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Kermit Cintron wants a big payday. And he's hoping Floyd Mayweather Jr. is available to fullfill that need.
After hearing Golden Boy Promotions boss Oscar de la Hoya say Cintron (32-2-1, 28 KOs) would be a "great choice" for Mayweather to fight in the spring, Cintron responded with a resounding yes.
"There is no bigger fan of Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s talent than myself," said Cintron. "But the whole world wants to see Floyd fight a big, strong welterweight, and that's where I step in...If Floyd wants to prove he's a legit welterweight, I'm the guy he needs to fight."
Cintron's last win was against Juliano Ramos, who didn't answer the bell in the fifth round, last October. Cintron's two losses were against Antonio Margarito.
Lou DiBella said he is ready to make a deal.
Oscar and Richard [Schaefer] know me very well and they know I'm easy to deal with," DiBella said. "We can have a deal made in an hour if this is the direction Floyd wants to take."
