Manny Pacquiao - Antonio Margarito fight tops 1 million PPV buys
Manny Pacquiao's status as a Pay-Per-View fighter hit a new high.
HBO's Mark Taffet announced his tilt with Margarito sold 1.15 million units and earned $64 million in revenue. It's the third straight fight Pacquiao has topped 1 million buys.
Pacquiao's figure was still below Floyd Mayweather's last fight with Shane Mosley, which hit 1.4 million buys.
Still, for a non-American to draw that many buys against another non-American fighter in Margarito, who is Mexican, is impressive. It proves there is still a market for big fights in American boxing.
People are still clamoring for a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight, which could easily top the 2 million buy mark. Mayweather's 2007 fight against Oscar de la Hoya hit 2.4 million.
