Manny Pacquiao vows to be more aggressive against Juan Manuel Marquez

Manny Pacquiao said he will be more aggressive in his fourth fight against Juan Manuel Marquez, revealing bits of strategy during a media conference call with trainer Freddie Roach on Monday.

It is certainly uncommon for a fighter and trainer to openly talk about strategy with the media. But Pac Man even hinted at looking for a knockout.

"Right now my mind is focused on being more aggressive for this fight," said Pacquiao. "If there is a chance in the ring during the fight, why not make the fight easy [knock him out] if I have the opportunity?"

Roach said on the first episode of HBO's "24/7" series that he was glad Pacquiao would be looking for a knockout. He backed that up on the conference call.

"The thing is Marquez fought the fight at a slow pace the last time," Roach said. "We plan to fight the fight at a much faster pace this time like we did in the first fight in the early rounds -- that's where we had the most success. Going by all the tapes we have watched, we do our best when we are more aggressive. More hand speed. We are going to use a lot of that."

Pacquiao also revealed that he will be fighting for at least another year and that a showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr. is still of interest.

When asked why there will be a fourth fight with Marquez, Pacquiao replied, "I am giving him a chance. I am giving him a chance to prove he can win the fight because he thought he has won all three and he keeps talking about it. So it is very important to me, to win this fight, especially since Marquez really wanted this fight."

There has been some discord in Pacquiao's last several training camps, but he insisted that he was training hard.

"I always train hard, but this time is a little harder," he said. "Harder and more punches, and some changes. We have been throwing more combinations, and changing our strategy - in movement. So it will be a little different than the last one."

Pacquiao fights Marquez on Dec. 8 in Las Vegas. The fight will be broadcast live on HBO Pay-per-view. Their first fight ended in a draw. Pacquiao won disputed decisions in the second and third fights.
