HBO Sports just announced that the 3.9 rating it received for Miguel Cotto's victory over Yuri Foreman for the WBA super welterweight title Saturday night at Yankee Stadium was the network's highest-rated boxing main event this year. The live telecast plus the Sunday morning replay was watched by about 1.9 million viewers.

Just as HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg and promoter Bob Arum hoped, holding the event at Yankee Stadium helped spur interest in the bout and enabled the sport to reach a wider audience. As Greenburg said prior to the bout, "We needed to reinvigorate the sport. We did that through '24/7' on our network and by showcasing some big-event fights. You need settings like Yankee Stadium, and that's what Cotto-Foreman brings to the table."
