It was after 10 grueling rounds with Mike Perez on Saturday that heavyweight Magomed Abdusalamov wound up in Roosevelt Hospital with a blood clot on his brain.

The Russian heavyweight remains hospitalized in a medically induced coma.

Perez, through his spokesman Bernie Bahrmasel, issued the following statement:

“’Mago is in my thoughts and prayers and I hope he recovers quickly,” Perez said. “He fought like a true warrior. I’m happy to be victorious but my main concern is for his health.”

Tom Loeffler, of K2 Promotions which promotes Perez, added: “Our entire team was very saddened to hear of the injuries that Magomed sustained during his bout on Saturday night. He is in our thoughts and prayers and we thank his team for keeping us updated on his condition.”
