Nick Charles dead at 64
Longtime broadcaster Nick Charles, who became CNN's first sportscaster died Saturday after a two-year battle with bladder cancer. He was 64.
Charles covered just about every sport during his years at CNN. Charles was well known throughout the boxing world, covering some of the most memorable matches, including Mike Tyson-Evander Holyfield II.
Charles helped Showtime grow its boxing division hosting Shobox: The New Generation and won the Boxing Writer's Association broadcaster award in 2007.
Charles is survived by his wife Cory, their daugher Giovanna and three other children from two other marriages.
