Sergio Martinez got redemption in short order as he stopped Paul Williams (39-2, 27 KOs) with a short left at 1:10 of the second round at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

The fight was billed as the fight of year. It turned out to be the punch of the year for Martinez (46-2-2, 25 KOs).

Williams won the first round and was fighting the right fight. He appeared to be on his way to being in control of the fight. But that's what makes boxing the sport it is. One punch can end it all.

"He caught me with a punch I didn't see," Williams said.

Martinez retains his WBC middleweight belt.

Where does this leave Martinez on the pound-for-pound list? Dominating wins over Williams and Kelly Pavlik certainly puts Martinez' name into any conversation.
