He's a multiple-belt world champion in three divisions with wins over Oscar de la Hoya, Antonio Margarito, Luis Collazo and Fernando Vargas.

But all of that means nothing right now to "Sugar" Shane Mosley.

After a one-sided loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. last May, Mosley is intent on letting the world know that he can still fight at a high level. Some would say his fight against a bigger fighter in Sergio Mora in a HBO Pay-Per-View fight on Saturday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles is foolish.

But what else can Mosley do? When you consider that a rematch with Mayweather out of the question and Margarito, Miguel Cotto, and Manny Pacquiao all set to fight over the next few months, there were few viable options for Mosley.

That isn't to say this is a bad opponent for Mosley (46-6, 39 KOs). Mora, a former disciple of the "Contender" beat the late Vernon Forrest in 2008. Mora (22-1, 6 KOs) lost the rematch, but he proved to the world that he is a legitimate contender.

Mosley, who just turned 39 last week, acknowledged both he and Mora have a lot on the line.

"Sergio has added pressure because he feels that he has to prove to the world that he is somebody," Mosley said. "I feel that I am working to prove to myself and prove to the fans that I can do this."

This also isn't the kind of fight that Mosley can consider a tune-up for a bigger bout.

"I have to get past Sergio Mora," Mosley said. "This guy is not someone to take lightly. He beat Vernon Forrest. I never beat the late great Vernon Forrest. He is a competitor and he comes to win."
