Zab Judah to face Michael Clark Oct. 2 at the Prudential Center

Zab Judah's road back is starting to pick up some steam.

Judah (39-6, 27 KOs) will face Michael Clark (40-5-1, 18 KOs) at the Prudential Center on October 2. The scheduled 10-round bout is reportedly at a catch-weight of 142 pounds.

Judah, who stopped Jose Armando Santa Cruz in the third round on July 16 in his first fight at 140 pounds in six years, is looking to fight one of the top junior welterweights in the world -Tim Bradley, Devon Alexander, Amir Khan.

With none of those fighters available -Bradley and Alexander may fight on January 29- or willing, Judah needed to step into the ring with someone to stay in shape. 

Main Events Promotion boss Kathy Duva told ESPN.com she has tried to schedule bouts against better fighters.

"We offered the fight to Juan Urango, Victor Cayo, Paulie Malignaggi, Lucas Matthysse, Julio Diaz, Kendall Holt and Joel Casamayor," Duva said to ESPN.com. "None of them were interested."

Judah shouldn't be surprised at the reluctance of some fighters to face him. With Alexander and Bradley possibly set to fight, a fighter with Khan's upside would be foolish to risk a loss and blow a chance at the winner. 

In addition to that, Judah's decision to drop to 140 has also shut the door on potential bouts. A possible fight against Andre Berto won't happen, because Berto won't fight Judah at 140.
