Alabama is the preseason No. 1 in the Associated Press top 25, released today.

Ohio State is No. 2. In fact, Alabama and Ohio State are 1-2 in the USA Today preseason top 25.

Actually, the AP and USA Today polls have the same teams ranked in their respective top 10s -- just in different orders.

Some common themes: Florida and Texas -- both with new quarterbacks -- are in both top 10s.

Boise State and TCU -- both from non-automatic qualifying conferences for the BCS, are both in the top 10s. Boise State's No. 3 ranking in the AP poll is the highest preseason ranking for a team from a non-automatic qualifying conference.
