There were only two hits in this game -- one for each team. The difference was LIU Post's hit left the yard. Ashley Martin was masterful, pitching a one-hitter as Post edged Southern New Hampshire, 1-0, Saturday in the NCAA Division II Eastern softball subregional in Manchester, New Hampshire. She outdueled Ali Maloof, who also pitched a one-hitter.
Martin allowed a second-inning single, walked three batters and had two strikeouts for the Pioneers (32-15-1). The sophomore threw 108 pitches.
Post's Kayla McCoy drilled a homer to left in the second inning for the only run. Maloof struck out nine for Southern New Hampshire (32-7).
The Pioneers will face Southern New Hampshire again in the final of the double-elimination tournament at 1 p.m. Sunday.
