Auburn pulls away from Georgia, 49-31

Cam Newton didn't let the off-the-field issues/allegations of wrongdoing impact him on Saturday as he ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more in No. 2 Auburn's 49-31 comeback win over Georgia.

There was some question as to whether Auburn would start Newton with the allegations swirling around the campus. But Newton did start and played well.

Auburn (11-0, 7-0 SEC)  clinched the SEC West and will play either Florida or South Carolina for the title next month. But the Tigers still have bigger things to play for, which makes the trip to Tuscalossa to play Alabama on Nov. 26 a huge game in the BCS national title game scenario.

Newton rushed for 151 yards and the two scores on 30 carries. He completed 12 of 15 passes for 148 yards with the two scores and an interception. It was the type of big-game performance that will keep Newton as the Heisman front-runner. Whether voters stick with Newton due to the allegations is up for debate.

As expected, Georgia's offensive talent made this a game and put an early scare into the Tigers. Aaron Murray threw three touchdown passes -- two to A.J. Green -- in the first quarter to give Georgia a 21-7 lead. Auburn rallied to tie it at 21-21 at halftime. Auburn took a 35-31 lead into the fourth quarter before a Newton touchdown pass and another touchdown on a run put the game away.

Auburn takes next week off before the Iron Bowl against Alabama. Then the SEC title game. Depending on those two games, the Tigers may be headed to Glendale to play for the BCS national title in January,
