Cernuto helps SJU snap skid
Kevin Cernuto scored two of his four goals during an eight-goal outburst in the first half for St. John's in a 15-7 win over Sacred Heart in non-league men's lacrosse Saturday.
Cernuto added an assist for a career-high five points. Connetquot's Kieran McArdle and Brandon Ayers from Lynbrook added three goals each and Charlie Holenstein had two scores and an assist for the Red Storm (2-6), which halted a six-game losing streak.
Delaware 8, Towson 7: Eric Smith scored the go-ahead goal with 4:29 left to lift Delaware (6-3, 2-0 CAA). Massapequa's Carl Iacona and Whitman's John Mills each added a goal.
Suffolk CC-Brentwood 11, Anne Arundel 9: Matt Durand had three goals to lead Suffolk CC-Brentwood (5-1). Ronnie Kheder scored with 7:04 left to give Suffolk a 10-7 lead, while Greg Griffo and Steve Marciano each had two goals and an assist.

Farmingdale State 7, Vassar 5:Wes Hubschmitt scored three goals and added one assist to lead Farmingdale State in non-league. Goalie Pat Delventhal had 11 saves.
WOMEN'S LACROSSENassau CC 16, Essex CC 3: Liz White and Rebecca Gumowski each scored four goals to lead Nassau CC in non-conference. Christina Carrington added three goals and two assists and Ellen Kleeman had 10 saves.
Adelphi 22, St. Anselm 0: Kaitlyn Carter and Devin Crimi each had four goals and three assists for Adelphi (2-0 NE-10).
