NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Charleston Southern promoted interim men's basketball coach Saah Nimley to the permanent job going forward.
Buccaneers athletic director Jeff Barber announced Nimley's full-time hiring on Monday.
Nimley, a former Charleston Southern player, joined the coaching staff in 2019 and was named interim head coach in November after longtime leader Barclay Redenbaugh stepped down after a 2-5 start.
The Buccaneers finished 10-19 overall. Barber said Nimley was the perfect fit for the Big South Conference program.
Charleston Southern takes on second-seeded UNC Asheville in the conference tournament quarterfinals on Friday.
Nimley played at Charleston Southern from 2011-15 and left as the school all-time career assists leader with 511. He was Big South player of the year as a senior and ranked fourth nationally, scoring 21.5 points a game.
