Big win for St. John's over Notre Dame
A solid job by St. John's, holding off several bursts by Notre Dame, the No. 9 team in the country, and winning, 72-54, at the Garden.
St. John's (11-5 overall) actually is ahead of Notre Dame (14-4) in the Big East, The Storm is 4-2, the Irish 3-3.
Malik Boothe scored 14 points, D.J. Kennedy also had 14 , including a couple of big hoops to turn back Notre Dame momentum. It allowed the Red Storm's fans to jeer, in unison, "Over-rated" to the visitors, who had beaten St John's handily in South Bend Jan. 8.
