Cincy hands No. 13 UConn first home loss
Sean Kilpatrick hit a three-pointer with 2.7 seconds left and Cincinnati beat No. 13 Connecticut, 70-67, last night for its seventh straight road victory in the Big East.
Kilpatrick's 16 points led five Bearcats in double figures as Cincinnati (15-4, 5-1) withstood two second-half runs and a half-court shot by Niels Giffey that rimmed out at the buzzer.
Cashmere Wright and Yancy Gates each had 13 points for Cincinnati. The Bearcats took 26 shots from behind the arc, hitting 11.
Shabazz Napier had a career-high 27 points for Connecticut (14-4, 4-3), which lost for the first time at home this season.
The Bearcats have won 10 of 11, including consecutive conference wins over No. 10 Georgetown and Villanova. It's their best start since joining the Big East in 2005.
"We're to a point now mentally that our guys believe that if we play well, we can beat anybody," Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin said. "That's a big key for us."
Villanova 84, Seton Hall 76:JayVaughn Pinkston had 23 points and 11 rebounds, and Maalik Wayns had 25 points as the host Wildcats (9-10, 2-5 Big East) won for only the second time in seven games. The Pirates are 15-4, 4-3.
Murray St. 66, Morehead St. 60: Isaiah Canaan scored 20 points as No. 12 Murray State (19-0, 7-0 Ohio Valley Conference) rallied past host Morehead State (9-11, 3-4). The Racers and No. 1 Syracuse are the only unbeaten teams in men's Division I.
Nebraska 70, Indiana 69: Jorge Brian Diaz made two free throws with 11 seconds left as the host Cornhuskers upset the No. 11 Hoosiers (15-3, 3-4). Nebraska (10-8, 2-5) earned its biggest win as a new member of the Big Ten.
Mississippi 75, Mississippi St. 68: Reginald Buckner had 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as Ole Miss (12-6, 2-2 SEC) defeated No. 18 Mississippi State (15-4, 2-2).
