Mike Krzyzewski tied Bob Knight atop the Division I men's career wins list with his 902nd victory in No. 6 Duke's 96-55 home rout against Presbyterian.

Ryan Kelly scored 17 points for the Blue Devils (2-0), who shot 61 percent and used a huge first-half run to deliver another milestone victory to their Hall of Fame coach.

Coach K improved to 902-284 during his 37th season as a college coach at Army and Duke. He can pass Knight -- his coach and mentor -- on Tuesday night against Michigan State at Madison Square Garden.

Krzyzewski continued his steady climb up the wins list by matching Knight -- for whom he played point guard at Army in the 1960s. The home crowd chanted "902" as the final seconds ticked away, then chanted his name after the horn. Krzyzewski briefly huddled with the Blue Devils on the court, then hustled into the locker room as the song "Celebration" blared from the speakers.

Freshman Austin Rivers scored 15 points, Miles Plumlee had 13 points and 11 rebounds and younger brother Mason Plumlee added 13 points for Duke, which improved on a couple of streaks at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The Blue Devils won their NCAA-best 38th straight home game and their 88th in a row against nonconference opponents at home.

Syracuse 78, Fordham 53: Jim Boeheim used a man-to-man defense for most of Syracuse's two exhibition games, and the Orange struggled a bit. Fordham coach Tom Pecora expected to see Boeheim's signature 2-3 zone in the season opener, and he got it. The Rams just couldn't handle it. Kris Joseph scored 16 points, Dion Waiters added 14 and as No. 5 Syracuse cruised. With all those long arms waving, Fordham shot 34.6 percent (18 of 52), including 4 of 21 from beyond the arc. Chris Gaston and Bryan Smith led Fordham with 13 points apiece. Branden Frazier had nine points, three steals and three assists.

Storm women lose

Megan Van Tatenhove scored 16 points and Jessica Jenkins added 14 to help St. Bonaventure rally for a 64-58 victory over No. 25 St. John's in the season opener for both teams. It was St. Bonaventure's first victory over a ranked team since 2008, when the Bonnies beat then No. 21 Michigan State at home. It was their first road win over a Top 25 team.

St. Bonaventure trailed by 13 late in the first half before cutting its deficit to 34-29 at the break.

Eugeneia McPherson scored 15 points to lead the Red Storm. St. John's was missing senior forward Da'Shena Stevens, who is sidelined by a knee she injured over the summer. They hope to have her back by the middle of December. She was the team's second leading scorer last season, averaging 11.8 points. She also led the Red Storm in rebounding with 6.4 per game. -- AP
