Davis out at Providence, O'Neill suspended

College coaches haven't had an easy time lately.

Pat Knight and Barry Rohrssen started things off by getting fired, respectively, from head coaching jobs at Texas Tech and Manhattan earlier this week.

You can add Providence's Keno Davis to that list, who was let go by the Friars on Friday. Things looked good early for Davis, who squad got off to an 11-2 start and appeared to be turning the corner. But the Friars finished the season 15-17. Their season ended on Tuesday after an 87-66 loss to Marquette in a Big East tournament first-round game.

David just finished his third season at Providence.

The Friars haven't been to the NCAA Tournament since Tim Welsh led them to a bid in 2004.

In another coaching fiasco, USC head man Kevin O'Neill was suspended by the school for the remainder of the PAC-10 tournament after getting into a repoted verbal altercation with an Arizona fan.
