Bryan Dougher scored 14 of his 17 points in the second half and overtime as visiting Stony Brook overcame a late double-digit deficit for a 79-73 win over Hartford Wednesday night in an America East game.

The win halted a two-game losing streak for Stony Brook, which played an overtime contest for the third time in four games and the fifth time this season. The Seawolves fell to Manhattan at Pritchard Gymnasium on Saturday, 64-63, in overtime in an ESPN "Bracketbuster" game.

Trailing 57-47 with 6:07 left in the second half, Anthony Jackson had five points and Chris Martin two free throws during an 11-0 run that gave the Seawolves a 58-57 lead with 3:07 remaining.

Hartford took a 63-60 lead with 21 seconds left on two free throws by Milton Burton.

But sophomore guard Leonard Hayes drained a three-pointer off a feed from Jackson with six seconds left to tie the score at 63 to force overtime.

Dougher went to work in overtime as he scored nine straight points during an 11-0 run that gave the Seawolves a 74-67 lead with 46 seconds left in the extra session.

Stony Brook improves to 12-16 overall and 7-8 in the America East as it clinched the fifth seed for the conference tournament.

Hayes and Danny Carter each had 14 points, while Jackson and Eric McAlister each chipped in 10 for the Seawolves.

Joe Zeglinski led Hartford (9-19, 6-9) with 24 points.

SBU women lose. Jackie Smith hit two free throws with 24 seconds left for visiting Hartford (13-15, 10-5 America East) in a 67-63 win over Stony Brook. Kirsten Jeter, Sam Landers and Destiny Jacobs had 13 points for the Seawolves (5-22, 2-13).
